About Golden Sands

Golden Sands is a holiday park at Kinmel Bay on the North Wales coast, beside the River Clwyd and the harbour that separates it from Rhyl. It has been a holiday park since 1933, and Away Resorts took it over in 2021. It has a mix of caravans and lodges, some with hot tubs.

Away Resorts lists direct beach access from the park, so the sand and the sea are right on hand. Rhyl's seafront and the Foryd harbour are only a short hop away, and the coast road runs west towards Towyn and Abergele.

What's on the park

  • Pools: a heated indoor pool, which Away Resorts says also has a bubble pool and a toddlers' pool. Sessions can be booked up to 21 days ahead.
  • Entertainment: the Lighthouse Entertainment Complex, with live shows and family entertainment in Bar Carousel, an amusement arcade and linked bingo with other Away Resorts parks.
  • Things to do: an outdoor adventure playground and a sports court for football, tennis and basketball, plus seasonal activities you can book through the Away Resorts app.
  • Food and drink: The Sandpiper Restaurant and Sports Bar, which shows big sporting events, and Catch 22 for fish and chips.

Around Rhyl and the North Wales coast

Rhyl's promenade and the Rhyl Miniature Railway are just across the harbour. Gwrych Castle and Manorafon Farm Park near Abergele are a short drive west, and the Welsh Mountain Zoo above Colwyn Bay is a little further. Llandudno's Victorian seafront and Great Orme make a good day out, and Eryri (Snowdonia) is within reach for walking.

Swapping and letting at Golden Sands

If you own a caravan here, you already have what makes a swap work: a holiday home on a park other owners want to visit. List it for free and you can swap weeks with owners elsewhere in the UK, Ireland and Europe, and pay nothing for the holiday. If a swap doesn't line up, you can offer a private let and keep 100% of the rent. Just check your licence agreement and the park's current rules on subletting first.

If you're looking for a stay, message the owner of any home above. You're dealing with a fellow owner who looks after their caravan, not a stranger, and there's no booking fee.

The season usually runs from around March to the end of October — check current dates with the owner or the park.
