About Lakeland

Lakeland Leisure Park is a Haven holiday park at Flookburgh, on the Cartmel peninsula in south Cumbria, a few miles from Grange-over-Sands. The park is flat and medium-sized, set around its own activity lake, and Haven says it's around a 15-minute walk from the furthest point to the main facilities. Some caravans and lodges look over the lake, and others towards the sea.

There's no beach on park, but a coastal path runs along the park's edge with views over Morecambe Bay, and Haven suggests a cycle out to Humphrey Head. Cark-in-Cartmel railway station is about two miles away, with trains to Barrow-in-Furness and Lancaster. The Lake District's lakes and fells are a short drive north.

What's on the park

  • Pools: a heated indoor pool with tipping buckets and a giant water tap, a paddling pool for little ones, and an outdoor pool in the summer, weather permitting.
  • Entertainment: the Marina Lounge for evening shows, plus the FunWorks amusement arcade.
  • Things to do: kayaks, paddleboards and pedalos on the activity lake, a nine-hole golf course, crazy golf, Aerial Adventure, archery, bike hire and kart hire.
  • Food and shopping: a J D Wetherspoon pub, Burger King, Cook's Fish & Chips, Papa Johns delivered through the My Haven app, and a supermarket.
  • For owners: Haven lists an owners' lounge, an owners-only indoor pool, a spa bath and sauna, a Welcome Back Party, a Wine Club and quiz nights.

Around Cartmel and the southern Lakes

Holker Hall and Gardens and the village of Cartmel, with its priory and racecourse, are just up the road. Windermere is within easy reach, with Bowness, Ambleside and Brockhole on its shores, and The World of Beatrix Potter and the Lakeland Motor Museum make good rainy-day choices. Further afield, Coniston Water and Grizedale Forest offer walking and cycling, while Grange-over-Sands has a promenade looking over the bay.

Swapping and letting at Lakeland

If you own a caravan here, you already have what makes a swap work: a holiday home on a park other owners want to visit. List it for free and you can swap weeks with owners elsewhere in the UK, Ireland and Europe, and pay nothing for the holiday. If a swap doesn't line up, you can offer a private let and keep 100% of the rent. Just check your licence agreement and the park's current rules on subletting first.

If you're looking for a stay, message the owner of any home above. You're dealing with a fellow owner who looks after their caravan, not a stranger, and there's no booking fee.

Haven hasn't published season dates for Lakeland, but the season usually runs from around March to the end of October, so check current dates with the owner or the park.

Questions about Lakeland

Can I swap my caravan at Lakeland for a holiday somewhere else?

Yes. List your Lakeland caravan or lodge for free, then message other owners across the UK, Ireland and Europe to arrange a swap. You agree the dates and details directly with each other.

Can I find a private let at Lakeland from an owner?

Some owners at Lakeland offer private lets as well as swaps. Message the owner directly to ask about dates and price. We don't take any commission.

Is Lakeland Leisure Park near the beach?

The park sits on the edge of Morecambe Bay, with a coastal walk along its boundary, but there's no beach on park. Haven suggests Bardsea, a sand and shingle beach across the bay, for a seaside trip. The tides in Morecambe Bay come in fast, so stick to the paths and promenades rather than walking out onto the sands.

Are dogs allowed at Lakeland Leisure Park?

Haven lists Lakeland as dog-friendly, with walks close to the park, though dogs aren't allowed inside the Wetherspoon pub. The Lake District is great country for dog walks too. Owners set their own rules for their own caravan, so check with the owner before you swap or book.

Can I let my Lakeland caravan out privately?

Many owners do, but every park has its own rules on subletting. Check your licence agreement and the park's current rules before you advertise a private let.
