About Butlin's Skegness

Butlin's Skegness, at Ingoldmells on the Lincolnshire coast, opened in 1936 and Butlin's calls it the UK's first holiday camp. Alongside the resort's own accommodation, Butlin's runs a caravan village of privately owned holiday homes. Butlin's says the village is just across the road from the main resort facilities, reached through an underpass.

The main resort sits by the sea between Skegness and Ingoldmells, and Visit Lincs Coast describes it as having direct access to the sandy shoreline. Fantasy Island is within walking distance, and Skegness town centre is a short drive or bus ride south.

What's on the park

  • Pools: Splash Waterworld, with nearly 3,000 square metres of water, high-speed flumes, racing rapids, a vortex slide and a pool for tots.
  • Entertainment: shows in the Skyline Pavilion and headline acts at Studio 36, plus the traditional fairground.
  • Things to do: Butlin's SKYPARK, high ropes, a climbing wall, go-karts, bowling, laser tag and adventure golf.
  • Food and shopping: restaurants, takeaways and fairground treats around the resort, with shops in the Skyline Pavilion.
  • For owners: Butlin's says each owner gets ten photo ID passes for family and friends, giving access to the resort during the caravan season, plus owners' events and discounts in selected food and drink venues, shops and activities.

Skegness has its pier, Clock Tower and long sandy beach, and Natureland Seal Sanctuary is about three miles from the resort. Further south, Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve covers three miles of dunes, salt marsh and shore down to The Wash. Lincolnshire Wildlife Park and Hardy's Animal Farm are both within easy reach for a family day out.

Swapping and letting at Butlin's Skegness

If you own a caravan here, you already have what makes a swap work: a holiday home on a park other owners want to visit. List it for free and you can swap weeks with owners elsewhere in the UK, Ireland and Europe, and pay nothing for the holiday. If a swap doesn't line up, you can offer a private let and keep 100% of the rent. Just check your licence agreement and the park's current rules on subletting first.

If you're looking for a stay, message the owner of any home above. You're dealing with a fellow owner who looks after their caravan, not a stranger, and there's no booking fee.

Resort passes belong to the owner, so if you're swapping or staying in someone's caravan here, ask them what access to the main Butlin's resort is included before you book.

Butlin's says the caravan village is open from 1 March until 30 November, and owners can use their holiday homes throughout that period.
