About Holdens

Holdens Caravan Park sits on Bracklesham Lane in Bracklesham Bay, on the Manhood Peninsula south of Chichester in West Sussex. Island Meadow Parks, the family business that runs it, describes a 40-acre park with around 500 pitches for static caravans and lodges. There are also 15 acres of fields on site for walking and playing.

The park is not on the seafront, but Island Meadow says the Bracklesham and East Wittering beaches are only a 10-minute walk away. East Wittering village is just over a mile off, with a bakery, fishmonger, greengrocer and butcher. Chichester and Portsmouth are both a short drive away.

What's on the park

  • Food and drink: a bar and restaurant, which Island Meadow notes is run independently, and a café open in the mornings and on bank holidays.
  • Things to do: 15 acres of open fields for walks and games, with the beach, cycle paths and the waterways of Chichester Harbour close by.

Around the Witterings and Chichester

Bracklesham Bay is popular for fishing, and West Wittering's beach is just along the coast. Sailors head for Itchenor and Bosham on Chichester Harbour, and Pagham Harbour Nature Reserve is good for birdwatching. Inland, there's the cathedral city of Chichester, the Weald & Downland Museum, West Dean Gardens and Goodwood, home of the Festival of Speed and the Revival. Portsmouth Historic Dockyard makes a good day out further west.

Swapping and letting at Holdens

If you own a caravan here, you already have what makes a swap work: a holiday home on a park other owners want to visit. List it for free and you can swap weeks with owners elsewhere in the UK, Ireland and Europe, and pay nothing for the holiday. If a swap doesn't line up, you can offer a private let and keep 100% of the rent. Just check your licence agreement and the park's current rules on subletting first.

If you're looking for a stay, message the owner of any home above. You're dealing with a fellow owner who looks after their caravan, not a stranger, and there's no booking fee.

Island Meadow lists a holiday season from 1 March to 31 October, then weekends-only winter use (plus two weeks over Christmas) until mid-February, with the park closed for the last two weeks of February.
